In the meantime, this looks like a fantastic opportunity for local Calgary artists to showcase their work:
Open Spaces: Windows to a View
In order to celebrate the diversity and quality of Calgary artists while enlivening the downtown 7th Ave transportation corridor, The City of Calgary Public Art Program is seeking local artists interested in exhibiting their work for six-week stints from July 2009 to April 2010.
The exhibition opportunity titled OPEN SPACES: Windows to a View, will see chosen artists exhibiting their works in two highly visible windows along the Telus Convention Centre LRT Platform (located between 1st St and Centre St S.E.). The exhibition spaces are each approximately 100 sq. feet and can accommodate a variety of installations.
The artist(s) selected to participate in this initiative will have their proposal reviewed by the Public Art Program, and must be able to execute visually engaging and stimulating work within the parameters of this opportunity. Successful artists will be called upon to design, create and install their work(s).
Interested artists are asked to submit qualifications for consideration by May 25, 2009.
