"Calla Lily", Acrylics on Canvas, 12" X 18", Kathleen Sauerbrei

Welcome to the first installment of Art of the Week where all comments and critiques are welcome. This is actually one of my own personal pieces, so please be gentle, as I am a beginner.

If you have any art that you have done in acrylics that you would like featured in this weekly post, please let me know in the comments section with a way to contact you, and it’d be a pleasure to feature you at the top of this blog entry in the future.

If you have an on-line blog that has your art, please include your URL and I can visit and contact you from there.

I appreciate all the people that dropped in to read the last post I made. Hopefully you learned something new, and if you do have any comments (either positive or negative), I will so appreciate them regarding anything that I post here.

One can 0nly learn, so do not think that by disagreeing with me, that I will be put out by your words. I have only been painting seriously for the last couple of years. What I have learned during this time period has been so very eye opening.

A couple of weeks ago I was featured in the Airdrie Echo in the Arts section. While I am not (as yet) a specific member of the actual Calgary Arts community, all my supplies are purchased in Calgary and the arts in the city appeal to me so very much. The article can be viewed here, and will give you a chance to get to know me and see where I am coming from:

As well, I do have a family type art blog that can be viewed here:

Calgary can be proud of the support that the Arts and artists receive locally. While I am presently residing in Crossfield, I am soon moving to the Rocky View community to live on an acreage with my children. This is a very positive move for me, and the landscape within the new area lends itself so very much to the artistic mind.

I look forward to hearing your responses and having a chance to feature some of your acrylic artwork!

Be well all,
~~Kathleen

Kathleen: I love your Lilly painting…it is very soothing to look at. I’ve been painting for years, but have just recently started painting seriously. My work is more abstract and some would call me a colourist. Take a look.

I joined an art group, and we are having a spring show in the TransCanada building the first week of June. There are 12 artists in our group, so there should be a nice selection of painting styles.

Thank-you so much for your kind comments Karen.
I have just finished looking at your blog and your art is wonderful.
I am not sure if you are a colourist or not, but your Art is spectacular and just grabbed me.
I will PM you through your blog.
~~Kathleen
