POST Exhibit: Peep Show

POST exhibit is presenting Peep Show, an installation by Gail Scheuring.
Drawing upon references to women in art history, Minimalism, Surrealism and voyeurism; this installation piece speaks to sexuality and consumer culture in a “feminized” space. Inspired by the artists Jessica Stockholder and Peter Halley, as well as images of sex shops, the colors represent an interruption of space and have a distinct psychological effect upon the viewer. The bright hues represent the garishness of artificial light seen in store fluorescent or “technological” light.
Although this installation is devoid of the female …

Bratsa Bonifacho: New Paintings

Bratsa Bonifacho at the Herringer Kiss Gallery
A new exhibit at the Herringer Kiss Gallery opened this past weekend. Bratsa Bonifacho’s new series of works and first exhibition in Calgary is inspired by the predator of the digital age: computer viruses.
Bonifacho’s oil paintings look to mimic the way computer viruses and worms affect our technology by creating scrambled works of letters and messages. Through it, he has managed to create works of art that embody the chaos left by the viruses.
What I think is fantastic about this new exhibit is its ability to …
