International Artist Day

Two very ambitious folks, Chris MacClure and Marilyn Hurst, have started a fantastic grassroots movement called International Artist Day!  International Artist Day is October 25th!
This worldwide tribute to artists will honor and bring recognition to the contributions they have made to civilization.
Everyone around the world can do something special on that day to enhance the visual arts: take an artist to lunch, host an exhibition, buy a piece of art, attend a gallery show, visit a studio of your favorite artist. Blog each other, let your local news papers and …

Who do we turn to? US OF COURSE!

Just to make it clear, I paint totally within the realm of Acrylics, and nothing else.
Where do we go for advise/information and support with the progression of …

Whew, now that I have gotten a couple of posts under my belt and shook out a couple of nervous first-post jitters, I figured I should probably introduce myself.  I’m Kristine and I am one of the newest contributing authors at Calgary Art Blog.
I’m a local artist.  Though, that is a bit of a misnomer given that I do not do my art as my profession. So I guess you can say I’m a passionate hobbyist.  Still, art has always had a pervading presence in my life.  It just has …

June 6th is Drawing Day! While not specifically a local Calgary event, Drawing Day is a fantastic opportunity for artists (of all ages, shapes, sizes, and experience levels) to pick up a pencil, make a mark or two, and help spread our immeasurable and passionate love of drawing. The very ambitious goal of Drawing Day is to create 1,000,000 drawings globally! And they can only accomplish that with the amazing talents of artists worldwide!
Below is a brief snippet from DrawingDay.org:
What is Drawing Day?
