The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo is this weekend!
The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo is an annual cross-media event that focuses not only on comics, but film, television, gaming, and mostly importantly, art!
Each year, the Calgary Expo plays host to fantastically talented artists and illustrators (as well as other media guests) from all over North America (and beyond). The Expo is the largest one of it’s kind in Western Canada. Attendees can meet some of their favourite comic artists and illustrators as well as pick up some original art work from the fine folks in Artist Alley and the rest of the awesome exhibitors. The Expo also offers informational panels about breaking into the comic industry, sculpting, animation, creator rights/copyright, and several How-to workshops for kids.
And for interested folks, the Expo also puts out a gorgeous Art Book each year.
But most importantly, there will be a lot of local, Calgary-based artists in attendance!
The Expo runs from Saturday, April 25th (10 am to 6 pm) through to Sunday, April 26th (10 am to 5 pm) at the Roundup Centre. For more information, check out the Calgary expo website at http://www.calgaryexpo.com.
And check back Monday for a review of the Expo from an art perspective! I promise to keep my nerdy, fangirl comments to a minimum!
