Calgary Sport Council is Looking for Artists

by calgaryartblog on April 6, 2009

Just heard through the grapevine that the Calgary Sport Council is looking for artists to submit sports-related art (paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc) for an upcoming exhibition they are holding. I’ve attached the details below:

The Calgary Sport Council is looking for sport painters/drawers and sculptors to exhibit their artistic work on Thursday September 17, 2009.

The exhibition “When Sport Meets Art” will be presented during the 5th Mayor’s Breakfast Honouring Sport in  Calgary at the TELUS Convention Centre.

This annual event will consist of 350 guests, specifically the CEO from Corporate Calgary and high-level Athletes.

Please ensure that submissions* are sent by Monday April 27, 2009 directly to Helene Darnet at hdarnet@calgarysportcouncil.ca.

For additional information, contact Helene Darnet at hdarnet@calgarysportcouncil.ca or (403) 387-7772.

*Forward your artwork via email. Please advise that all artists (i.e., painters, drawers & sculptors) will be exhibiting their work on voluntary bases due to a limited budget; however it is an excellent opportunity to exhibit your work in front of sport enthusiast public and potential buyers.

Thanks for posting this call for submissions. Looks like a great opportunity.

Not a problem at all. Hopefully the trend of using art as a way to celebrate/commemorate an event will become more common and we’ll be able to post more calls for art submissions going forward.

Very best and good luck with your submission!
