Exposure 2010 – Calgary Banff Photography Festival runs from Jan. 30th to Feb 28th.
The theme of this celebration of photographic arts is Perception.
Festival highlights in Calgary include new works shot in large format 8 x 10 negatives by award-winning photographer David Burdeny featured at Herringer Kiss Gallery. Polaroids of studio models taken by celebrated artist Attila Richard Lukacs are presented at Illingworth Kerr Gallery – Alberta College Art & Design. At Newzones Gallery is a solo show by Joshua Jensen-Nagle, a photographer who uses experimental materials and techniques to create unique images. Triangle Gallery is showcasing conceptual photography from Japan in an exhibition titled Counter-Photography: Japan’s Artists Today.
A truly regional Festival many galleries located in the Bow Valley are participating with Banff’s Whyte Museum showing photographs by Bill Anderson. A master of film-based photography, he takes a fresh look at natural beauty using digital technology with stunning results. And The Banff Centre hosts From Head to Toe: Portraits by Nina Raginsky.
Exposure 2010 will see photographic works in galleries throughout Calgary, Banff and Canmore in addition to panel discussions, lectures and special events.
