The Untitled Art Society is hosting an opening reception this Friday, April 24th, for their latest main-gallery exhibit, “No Cream or Sugar” by Joel Monea.

The opening reception starts at 7 o’clock on Friday, April 24th with the exhibition running through until Friday, May 15th. Untitled Art Society’s gallery is located on the fourth floor of 319 – 10 Avenue SW Calgary. UAS asks that you use the back alley entrance for all opening and closing receptions.

Below is a description (and image) of the exhibition borrowed from the UAS website:

No Cream or Sugar
Joel Monea

“I want to create a dream-like quality in my work using prose fragments and imagery. The text is kept simple, allowing for a variety of interpretations while the objects float in space.

“Some of my paintings allow the viewer to rotate and position the work as they like, so the viewer can ask the work, ‘which way is up?’ The idea is not to get caught up in a particular concrete image or reality, but to let the mind and eye flow within the piece.

“All in all, my work is like a freefall into another dimension.”
