Reinhard Skoracki Exhibition, "Floating"
We are pleased to announce the upcoming Reinhard Skoracki exhibition at the Herringer Kiss Gallery here in Calgary.
Reinhard Skoracki is a Calgary-based sculptor who exhibits nationally and internationally including ‘Canadian Sculptors’ at the Liu Hai Su Museum in China, the Toyamura International Sculpture Biennale, the Museum of Fine Arts in Ostrava, Czech Republic, the WG Kunst in Amsterdam, and in Tinos, Greece. His work has been published in ‘New Art International‘ (Book Art Press, NY, 1998), ‘Artful Jesters‘ (Nicholas Roukes, 2003), and ‘The Sculpture Reference Illustrated‘ (Arthur Williams, 2005).
“Skoracki’s table top and wall mounted bronze sculptures represent topical issues with a sense of humour in the Rabelaisian tradition. Many of the pieces in this show are inspired by the dichotomy of those imaginary adventures of the artist’s childhood and the journeys of his imagination, escaping as an adult. Perhaps it is the amalgamation of the boy inside and the man understanding his maturation.”

Reinhard Skoracki’s sculptures illustrate the essence of what it means to be human. His bronzes use the human form along with humour and satire to express social and political views.
“Unlike black humor, which presents a world gone mad and without hope, Skoracki’s art is admittedly caustic satire, but closer to Pantagruelism – the Rabelaisian philosophy of dealing with serious matters in a spirit of broad and somewhat cynical good humor.”

Hi Jon, a few questions and answers re my contributing to your Blog.
1….Do you allow photos in your blog? I was thinking of Works in progress for examples, finished work etc.
2….Would one entry a week be okay on a specific day?
3….I was thinking that the last weeks entry could include questions & answers (and would these be added to the blog/or outside email?)
4….Do you allow links to other forums? (specifically art related)
5….I am somewhat familiar with Wordpress, so I think I will give posting direct a try.
