Ciara Hossack, "Glacial Series" 2008

New exhibitions are always something to get excited about in Calgary, but the new exhibition presented by Summit Gallery of Fine Art is particularly special. Crystallize is the debut exhibition of Ciara Jayne Hossack – a Calgary-born artist.

From the Summit Gallery website:

Crystallize is a cohesive series of new work in ceramic, hand-blown and fused glass. Exploring the meditative qualities of water, Hossack draws inspiration from the energy that is inherent to it’s ability to change state from liquid to solid; ice or steam, as well as it’s ability to reflect and refract light.

Inspired by the Columbian ice fields, Hossack’s work depicts a movement and flow that showcase just how unique each of the forms water can take are – a fantastic juxtaposition.

While this may be her first exhibition, Ciara Hossack’s work can be found in private collections from Canada to Australia to the United States of America. Her most prominent acquisition being to the Sir Elton John Collection.

Hi
I was wondering if there are any art exhibition or art shows going on right now where amateur artists could display their art in the public? It doesn’t have to be profit organized.
