Whew, now that I have gotten a couple of posts under my belt and shook out a couple of nervous first-post jitters, I figured I should probably introduce myself. I’m Kristine and I am one of the newest contributing authors at Calgary Art Blog.
I’m a local artist. Though, that is a bit of a misnomer given that I do not do my art as my profession. So I guess you can say I’m a passionate hobbyist. Still, art has always had a pervading presence in my life. It just has always been there and I couldn’t imagine my life without it. Both as an artist and a lover of art.
I had dabbled in our local arts scene for years – taking in an exhibition here and there and attending First Thursdays (when my scattered brain remembered!) But in recent months, I decided to shake myself from the sometimes lonely existence of an artist and explore the Calgary arts scene. Well, more earnestly and consistently.
Calgary has such an amazingly rich and diverse arts scene. We have something for everyone – every palette, every taste, every inclination. I’m having a fantastic time discovering all the – often hidden – jewels within our arts community. It’s my hope that through the Calgary Art Blog, that perhaps I can pass on a jewel or two and help promote one of the most fantastic art communities in Canada, in the World, in the Universe!
